Wine blessed with Light
The owners, Anna Mercandelli and her husband Domenico Capeto are devout Catholics. Each morning they pray before work and take loving care of the vines all day. Generally speaking, any wines of high-quality are produced with the use of herbicides and other additives. However, their goal was different, aiming for a pure, sacred wine as described in a reference to Last Supper in the Gospel of Luke. They were producing Organic wines only with exceptional application of quarried sulphur for preventing disease.
Reaching new heights
in wine making
Natural Agriculture upholds over-riding respect for Nature and avoids the use of fertilizers, pesticides, and additives. During their visit to the Miho Museum in April of 2008, Anna and Domenico were touched by “the absolute purity” of beautiful artworks and Natural Agriculture products. Then, they decided to pursue higher quality by Natural Agriculture and stopped the use of sulphur.
Wine that fills the soul
In the initial year of 2008, they struggled with a lot of work and a drop in yield. However, the surviving grapes released an unbelievable bouquet. The excellent quality of the first pressing of Natural Agriculture wine was a great surprise to Sacrafamilia. The gentle taste seemed like a mother’s embrace and the elegant aroma left an impact of “impressive purity.”
Birth of Arte della Luce
In ancient rituals, drinking vessels were used for an offering of wine to the divine. Wine was thought to be a gift from God.
Grandama wine was born of the pure, natural energy and climbed to the height of its sacred quality. It has recovered true essence of wine at this present moment of the 21st century. Simple, pure taste sheds light to people’s hearts. This wine is beyond natural, sending light deeper into their souls. In 2011, Sacrafamilia came up with new labels, Granre and Gransol after Grandama to complete a line of “Art of Light” wines.
